El Servicio de Emergencia del Estado, dice el calor abrasador de hoy podría contribuir a la situación de las inundaciones en el noroeste de Victoria.

Un mar de agua poco a poco va introduciendo en las comunidades alrededor de Swan Hill, incluyendo Pental Isla y el Parque Mística.

Pero el río Swan Hill todavía se espera que mantenga la ciudad a salvo de cualquier inundación.

SES portavoz Lachlan rápido, dice el calor de hoy en día puede disminuir la amenaza de inundación.

"Obviamente es beneficioso en el sentido de que puede ayudar a algunos de evaporación de las aguas y tal vez incluso a frenar la diseminación un poco, pero el agua todavía se viene", dijo.

"Hemos emitido alertas de emergencia a muchas de esas comunidades el 24 de enero", dijo.

"Así que si usted recuerda que han tenido cuatro o cinco días para preparar y esperar y acaba de ver cómo a través de esta se mueve lentamente de inundaciones de agua. Es evidente que se necesitará un poco de un peaje."

El agua comenzará a subir hoy, pero no se espera que máximo hasta la próxima semana.

"El dique en Swan Hill se debe estar bien", dijo Quick.

"Es que los diques rurales fuera de esa zona que todos los antiguos y, básicamente, de tierra que tenemos que tener un mejor control sobre."

Mientras tanto, el Commonwealth Bank ha anunciado que proporcionará más de $ 50 millones en asistencia a las víctimas de las inundaciones en Queensland, Victoria y otros estados afectados.

The State Emergency Service says today's scorching heat could help with the flood situation in north-west Victoria.

A sea of water is slowly creeping into communities around Swan Hill, including Pental Island and Mystic Park.

But the Swan Hill levee is still expected to keep the city safe from any flooding.

SES spokesman Lachlan Quick says today's hot weather may lessen the flood threat.

"Obviously it is beneficial in the sense that it may aid some evaporation of the floodwaters and maybe even slow the spread a little bit, but the water will still be coming," he said.

"We are talking about a record amount of water creeping through that area.

"A very hot day is certainly better than a rainy day in terms of flood preparation but we need to make sure that our people are looking after themselves and each other."

Communities on the the outskirts of Swan Hill have been on high alert for a number of days.

Mr Quick says it has been a tense wait.

"We issued emergency alerts to many of those communities on January 24," he said.

"We asked them to evacuate then and be prepared for long periods of isolation.

"So if you think back they've had four or five days to prepare and wait and just see how slowly this flood water moves through. Obviously that will take a bit of a toll."

The water will begin to rise today but is not expected to peak until next week.

"The levee at Swan Hill itself should be fine," Mr Quick said.

"It's the rural levees outside of that area that are all old and basically made of earth that we have to keep a closer eye on."

Meanwhile, the Commonwealth Bank has announced it will provide more than $50 million in flood assistance to victims in Queensland, Victoria and other affected states.Most of the money will be made available to the bank's insurance customers who are not otherwise covered for flood damage.
